12 Round Super Featherweight Fight
Available in HD
After a dramatic weigh-in on Friday and near-cancellation of the main event on Saturday, Adrien Broner used his size, speed, and skill to defeat Vicente Escobedo and maintain his undefeated status. The drama began during Friday’s weigh-in, where Broner tipped the scale at 133.5 pounds, well above the 130-pound division limit. His belt was automatically forfeited, and Escobedo’s camp was ready to throw in the towel. Only hours before the event, an agreement was reached by both sides. Round one was fairly quiet but by the second, Broner’s speed and strength began to pick up. Not only did Broner hold a size advantage over his opponent; Escobedo was simply no match for his technique or repertoire of moves. By the end of round four, a trickle of blood appeared from Escobedo’s nose as he returned to his corner. In the fifth, Escobedo found himself cornered and Broner unleashed his full arsenal in search of a stoppage. Trainer Joel Diaz had seen enough and stepped up to wave the towel.
