A pair of all action bouts, featuring boxing's top young fighters, highlight the March 27th edition of 'HBO World Boxing.' In the evening's main event, hard-hitting slugger Marcos Rene Maidana returns to the bright lights of 'HBO World Boxing' where, in June of 2009, he engaged Victor Ortiz in a fight-of-the-year candidate. In an all-action clash, both Maidana and Ortiz sent one another to the canvas in the first round. Ortiz took control in the second, however, dropping the rugged Argentinean twice. Maidana recovered and dropped the highly-touted prospect again in the 6th en route to an upset victory. Already a leading contender in the Junior Welterweight division, Maidana now takes on yet another young, top-rated challenger in Victor Cayo. In the evening's opening bout, a rematch of one of last yearÂ’s more controversial fights pits undefeated two-time champion, Joan Guzman against top-rated contender Ali Funeka. |
