On the August 7th edition of "HBO World Boxing," two young, undefeated champions put their titles and perfect records on the line against tough and talented former champions when Devon Alexander battles Andriy Kotelnik and Tavoris Cloud takes on Glen Johnson. Though just 23 years old, Devon Alexander has already earned a spot atop the deepest, young division in boxing, a division that features budding stars Amir Khan, Timothy Bradley and Marcos Maidana. At the age of 22, Alexander ko'd former champion Junior Witter to claim the Junior Welterweight title. In his next bout, Alexander unified Junior Welterweight titles and became the first fighter to knockout tough-as-nails, two-time champ, Juan Urango. Now, Alexander defends his belts against another rugged former champ in Andriy Kotelnik. A 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist and former Junior Welterweight champion, Kotelnik ranks among the best Junior Welterweights in the world. |
